Hairdressing Age 14-18

Hairdressing Age 14-18

Ghost have a long established history of working with young people through the medium of hairdressing. Our specialism is working with young people who display challenging behaviour, aggression and self harm. Our whole model is delivered in 3 stages.

Our model incorporates the strengthening families, strengthening communities building blocks of success into its content which means we encourage parents to be part of the program. Separately we offer parent courses to explore family issues and strengthen a parents position in their household. We feel that just working with the young person isn’t enough, to work it needs to be a holistic approach.

NVQ Level 1 works on the young persons self esteem and social skills whilst studying at a very simple level that is fun but structured to establish focus and positive thinking. Weekly therapy sessions are incorporated into this course. This course is aimed at the high end challenging behaviour students that are hard to reach. Strategies are designed to encourage the students to manage outbursts and understand their triggers and feelings around this.

NVQ Level 2 is a qualification level that could enable the young person to secure a future in the hairdressing industry. This course incorporates functional skills and therapy into the course structure. The aim of this course is to equip the young people with resilience, confidence and ambition whilst gaining an employable qualification.

NVQ Level 3 is an in-depth version of Level 2. We will encourage the young person to apply their own ideas and creativity to the design of their work using the basic knowledge they have completed in level 2. Therapy is part of this program with the added support of professional sessions delivered around sexual health, substance misuse, Domestic abuse and employability amongst others.
